Prayer Space Box
As we try to live our lives as Catholics without being able to attend Mass, we have looked for ways to bring the beauty and mystery of the liturgy into our own home.
I don't know about you, but it's been difficult to capture a sense of the Sacred as we livestream Mass on a laptop. :/
I spent some time last week looking for things that we could use to create a prayer space in our home. While I knew that many of my Catholic artisan friends made items that would lend themselves to this purpose, it was difficult to imagine what the finished space would, or should, look like.
Thankfully, my dear friend Allison of Small Things Great Love had a brilliant idea.
We could work together and curate a beautiful and functional Prayer Space collection, and offer it to others as well!
Surely we were not the only ones seeking to create a sanctuary and spiritual refuge within our own walls.
We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to Allison for curating these items. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.
--Boxes are offered as a PRESALE and are expected to ship in 3-4 weeks--
(Reflection excerpt by Allison, Small Things Great Love)
For this prayer space, I wanted an icon to be a focal point and I wanted it to go with a phrase that has been on my heart for the last 3 weeks, HOLD ME JESUS. I needed an image to gaze upon and imagine Jesus just holding me; a safe place to finally let go. That is what is stirred up in me when I look at this image. I imagine Him saying, “Come here and ugly cry on me. I can handle it.”
How many of us need to be reminded that we can lay down our burdens at the feet of Jesus? I know I do, almost daily. I need to be reminded that He wants me to find rest in Him. He wants me to come to Him and hold me, be with me, love me. The icon pictured is of Jesus holding John the Beloved. I invite you to pray and put yourself in the place of John, allow yourself to be held by our Lord, and then, let go of the burdens you are carrying.
